If it's important to us as a Driving School then it'll probably be important to you too
When the DSA introduces a new video clip we'll show it here if we think it's appropriate
Did you know that last year (2011) we provided
over 10,000 hours of driving lessons?
With fewer than 5 complaints - we'll
obviously try to
do much better this year!
Booking Lessons with A1 Learners
just got easier
We've made booking lessons with us
even easier!
No more mobile calls to 0845 numbers
(and who said 0800 numbers are
free?). We've created our secure on
- line booking form and
it's proving very popular. It means you can now contact us at any time of the day
(or night for that matter).
No more
struggling to make phone calls from the office with absolutely everyone
(including the boss) listening
And coming soon... A1 Learners will be
introducing on - line Theory Test questions with instant feedback
Car Insurance
Now
you're required by law to make sure that your vehicle is
continuously insured. New laws being
introduced will mean that if your vehicle is not insured it must have a valid SORN certificate.
Graeme Trudgill, BIBA’s head of corporate affairs said:
“Continuous Insurance Enforcement will help reduce the £500 million burden on innocent motorists caused by uninsured drivers, vehicle keepers should ensure they stay insured or SORN
their vehicle if it is laid up, vehicle
keepers can always speak to their insurance broker or company if they have any doubt”.
And ladies with insurance costs on the
rise perhaps you should give

second look
Oh dear, more bad news!
DSA has stopped publishing the questions and answers to the Theory Test.
Road Safety Minister Mike Penning says
this will help all new drivers to learn the principles behind driving theory rather than just learning answers.
Mike Penning went on to say:
“The driving theory test should help to prepare drivers for real life on the road - good driving is not just about vehicle-handling skills, but also about having the knowledge and understanding of safe driving theory.
No longer publishing these questions and answers will mean that successful candidates will have to understand the theory
behind learning to drive rather than simply memorising answers.
I believe that this - along with the other changes we are making to the driving test regime - will lead to better drivers and safer roads.”
In September 2011 DSA changed the format of books and other learning materials available to help people prepare for theory tests. This
took place at the same time as more challenging case studies were introduced to car and motorcycle theory tests.
And now, since January 2012, DSA will create Theory Tests using questions which will not be published.
Practice questions and answers, not used in Theory Tests, will still be available to help candidates with revision.

DSA launches Facebook page for learner drivers
Facebook users can now get safe driving advice and keep up to date with changes
to the driving test. The Driving
Standards Agency has launched a
page called 'I can't wait to
pass my driving test' and wants
learners to become fans. As well
as getting advice and tips about
learning to drive, fans of the
page will be able to find links
to: * detailed information about
getting a driving licence,
learning to drive, and the
theory and practical driving
tests * book their theory and
practical tests using the only
official booking service * read
the Highway Code online * buy
official DSA publications to
help them prepare to pass their
test.

Unqualified Driving Instructors charging full lesson prices?
Trainee driving instructors are allowed to teach for reward before they take their final qualifying exam
but it's a sad fact that fewer than 25% of all trainees qualify.
This means if you are assigned a trainee instructor you have a 75% chance of being taught by a trainee
who will be struck off the Driving Instructor Register for teaching below the minimum standards.
Did your Driving School tell you that you might be taught by an unqualified driving instructor? Did you
ask?
Thankfully A1 Learners only has qualified driving instructors
